One of the many benefits of the Adult Day Program at Oxnard Family Circle is that participants have oppportunities to go on outings to many different and exciting locations. Recently a social worker at our facility named Joy Williams took participants to McGraph Family Farm in Camarillo. Participants were able to feed rabbits, goats, sheep, and a baby calf. They also saw geese and ducks, and enjoyed being outside in the sunshine and fresh air with the animals.
"Being outside with animals such as these is an exciting experience for most adult day program participants. I believe animals have a 'healing touch' that is hard to find elsewhere," - Joy Williams, Social Worker at Oxnard Family Circle ADHC. The group also got to visit the local farmer's market where participants were able to purchase goods, and Joy bought strawberries for everyone to share.
Outings such as the farm field trip, group trips to restaurants, the beach, or parks allows members of Oxnard Family Circle to go places they normally wouldn't be able to attend and give them an exhilerating and fun experience. The ability to attend outings also contributes to developing and maintaining social skills and relationships not only within our center, but outside the center as well.

Senior Care and Post-Acute Rehab Under One Roof
Oxnard Family Circle is not only a great facility for senior care, but also offers post-acute rehab services for seniors and disabled adults.
Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care center is located in Ventura County. We are a community-based program licensed by the Department of Public Health with daily capacity for up to 180 people. We currently employ 19 licensed professionals, 7 assistants and 21 aids who provide steady monitoring and care to as many patients as needed in a given day under one roof. This is a more affordable option since it does not require personal care aids and licensed personnel including nurses, therapists, social workers, dietitians, etc to travel patient's residence.
Our agency offers all inclusive services for day health care, maintenance, post-acute rehabilitation and preventive programs for one flat-fee. This provides a great way to tailor the program to fit the particular need of patients to minimize hospital readmission, improve patient results and save money.
In
an effort to reduce complications and re-hospitalization for patients
discharged from hospitals, Oxnard Family Circle ADHC offers a unique medical
model whole-day rehabilitation program inclusive of all the services a patient
would need upon discharge. Payers can save up to 80% of post-acute rehabilitation costs and decrease
re-hospitalization for patients anywhere from 28% to 75% by participating in
such programs, which is designed specifically for patients who require skilled
quality care during a day (patients go home for nights and weekends). Our
facility can completely or partially replace not cost-effective conventional home

MOTOmed Provides Safe and Healthy Movement Every Day
Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care Program is pleased to announce a new addition to our physical/occupational therapy department: the MOTOmed Movement Therapy System, which is of particular value for multiple sclerosis, stroke, paraplegia, tetraplegia, spasticity, Parkinson's
disease and other neurological and geriatric diseases as well as any kind of mobility
impairments.
The MOTOmed is not only a superior stationary bicycle for the legs, but for the arms as well. The MOTOmed also provides a screen with feedback about performance (how fast you are pedaling, which leg/arm is being used more) and gearing options to allow you to alter levels of difficulty. The foot and hand pedals can be rotated in either direction to provide complete range of motion.
At Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care Center there is a variety of participants, some of which who have had a stroke, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injuries, and many other neurological disorders. There are many factors, including aging, which may contribute to your loved one's difficulty walking, using a wheelchair, or being confined to bed. Neurological and neuromuscular disease can cause:
- muscle loss (atrophy)
- paralysis or physical weakness
- metabolic and/or circulatory disorders
- muscle cramps/spasms and muscle stiffness
- reduced strength and/or movement control
- constipation
- bladder/bowel infections
- restricted walking ability
- cold legs due to circulatory problems
- joint stiffness
While some of these health issues may make it difficult for individuals to benefit from exercise, the MOTOmed Movement Therapy System can help provide relief from all of these ailments by gently moving and loosening your arms or legs. The MOTOmed at Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care Program also has software and motor assistance to ensure that setup is easy and effective every time. There are three types of therapy to choose from:
Passive: The MOTOmed moves you. Passive motion without muscle strength is essential
to prevent your joints from stiffening. It helps to loosen up the muscles and to reduce
spasticity. Passive training improves the blood circulation and therefore the oxygen and
nutrition supply of the muscles. This provides movement for your daily well-being.
Motor-Assisted: The MOTOmed supports you. The user trains with only little
muscle strength and the MOTOmed motor supports this active impulse by the
ServoCycling feature. This promotes strength and endurance even with minimal muscle
strength. Residual strength that is either blocked by spasticity or insufficient for fully
active movement can be rediscovered and strengthened. This provides movement for more energy
and motivation.
Active-Resistive: Cycle by yourself. The user trains actively against finely adjustable
resistance levels, from very easy to quite difficult. Whenever the muscles fatigue, he
can relax and the motor will take over again and continue to move the legs or arms
in passive motion. This helps to improve the blood circulation as well as the oxygen
and nutrition supply, so that active training can be continued after a short break.
Active training with short breaks of passive training has a positive influence on
the total training time and the general therapy progress. This provides movement for your
physical strength.
The unique design and functions of the MOTOmed include:
- SmoothDrive System
- Movement Protector
- SpasmControl with automatic direction change
- Servocycling (automatic cycling)
- Leg insertion aid
- Arm/Upper Body Trainer (for active and passive training of arm, shoulder and back muscles)
The programs provided for MOTOmed exercise include:
- standard program
- endurance
- strengthening
- loosening (of muscles) and coordination
- MotivationProgram (symmetry, coordination, concentration, muscle strength)
- Parkinson's Program
- individual programs
The MOTOmed provides the ability to exercise:
- with comfort from a chair or wheelchair
- as often as long as you want
- at any time that is convenient
- independently, for the majority of users
The MOTOmed can provide tension relief and pain from the limbs, and also give the user an exhilarating feeling of progress and motivation as they cycle by showing how far they have virtually cycled. The MOTOmed at Oxnard Family Circle also provides a very rare and effective exercise method for quadriplegic and paraplegic individuals, as well as seniors, adults with various disabilities, and could be used by anyone at the day program.
Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care Program provides a MOTOmed to allow your loved ones to get the best and safest exercise that they can on a daily basis. Consistent use of the MOTOmed can provide a significant improvement in your loved one's strength, range of motion, and endurance.

Oxnard Family Circle's Memory Care Unit
What is Memory Care?
- Memory Care is a specialized type of health care designed specifically for individuals with memory deficiency, dementia, and Alzheimer's. As dementia or Alzheimer's progresses, your loved one may be more likely to experience difficulty with remembering names or tasks, holding coherent conversation, or addressing daily needs such as personal hygiene.
- Caregivers often have jobs and daily tasks to attend to during the day, which makes it more difficult to provide in-home care for their family member. Every individual wants their loved one to be comfortable, safe, and cared for within their own community, and often times do not want to resort to putting their family member in an institution.
How can Oxnard Family Circle help?
- The Memory Care Unit at Oxnard Family Circle is a community-based program that provides a happy medium between in-home care and an institution. While your loved one can enjoy the comfort of their own home in the evenings and weekends, caregivers can be provided with the comfort of knowing that their loved ones are being taken care of in our specialized Memory Care Unit during the day.
What makes Oxnard Family Circle effective?

The Memory Care Unit has its own nurses and staff specifically trained for the care of Alzheimer's and dementia individuals.
-While higher-functioning members with memory deficiencies can experience all areas of Oxnard Family Circle, individuals who are in the Memory Care Unit are sure to find comfort and security. Participants can take part in memory-enhancing games, social time, group outings within the community, relaxing on the patio, or choose to read or watch television. There is also a garden connected to the Memory Care Unit for individuals who would like to go outside and enjoy nature.
- Oxnard Family Circle cooks two hot dietary meals a day for participants on-site under the supervision of registered dietitians. We also provide transportation to and from the center, as well as showering assistance for those who have difficulties with personal hygiene.
What are the ultimate goals of Oxnard Family Circle?
- To address all of your loved one's needs accordingly and on a daily basis

What is Adult Day Health Care?
What Is Adult Day Health Care?
Adult Day Health Care is a group program designed to meet the individual needs of functionally impaired adults on a daily basis. It provides an alternative to in-home health care or institutions for adults who may need extra assistance throughout the day (that the caregiver might have difficulty providing during the day due to work or other obligations) but would still enjoy to live in the comfort of their own home and community.
Why choose Oxnard Family Circle?
Oxnard Family Circle provides top-quality adult day care services by providing transportation to and from the center, two healthy, homecooked meals per day for participants, and offering an array of activities for both enjoyment and enhancement of cognitive, physical and social skills. Oxnard Family Circle provides nursing and social services, counseling, veterans services, podiatry services, speech therapy, congestive heart failure patient services, a rehabilitation day program, physical and occupational therapy, and massage therapy. Exercise equipment and a leisure area with television, books, recliners and couches are made available on a daily basis. Showering assistance is also offered, and staff and nurses trained specifically for the help of caring for geriatrics individuals.
Oxnard Family Circle also offers several daily activities to ensure that participants are in a familiar environment, as well as guest performers and special events (such as movie days or karaoke days). At Oxnard Family Circle, we make a point to have one special event per day because the happiness of participants contributes to the healthiness of participants. The ability to come to our location with the anticipation of making and being with friends, friendly staff, fun events, and the options to exercise, do Zumba dancing, make arts and crafts, socialize, or simply enjoy quiet time on our beautiful patio on a daily basis will give your loved one a sense of belonging, security, and well-being.
