Oxnard Family Circle's Memory Care Unit

What is Memory Care?
- Memory Care is a specialized type of health care designed specifically for individuals with memory deficiency, dementia, and Alzheimer's. As dementia or Alzheimer's progresses, your loved one may be more likely to experience difficulty with remembering names or tasks, holding coherent conversation, or addressing daily needs such as personal hygiene.
- Caregivers often have jobs and daily tasks to attend to during the day, which makes it more difficult to provide in-home care for their family member. Every individual wants their loved one to be comfortable, safe, and cared for within their own community, and often times do not want to resort to putting their family member in an institution.

How can Oxnard Family Circle help?
- The Memory Care Unit at Oxnard Family Circle is a community-based program that provides a happy medium between in-home care and an institution. While your loved one can enjoy the comfort of their own home in the evenings and weekends, caregivers can be provided with the comfort of knowing that their loved ones are being taken care of in our specialized Memory Care Unit during the day.

What makes Oxnard Family Circle effective?
- Oxnard Family Circle creates a program that covers 24/7 care between our facility and the family to keep the participant in their own community for as long as possible.

Why is Oxnard Family Circle unique?
- Oxnard Family Circle is the only adult day health care center in the community of Ventura County that provides a Memory Care Unit, which is a separate and private area of the facility. The Memory Care Unit has its own nurses and staff specifically trained for the care of Alzheimer's and dementia individuals.
-While higher-functioning members with memory deficiencies can experience all areas of Oxnard Family Circle, individuals who are in the Memory Care Unit are sure to find comfort and security. Participants can take part in memory-enhancing games, social time, group outings within the community, relaxing on the patio, or choose to read or watch television. There is also a garden connected to the Memory Care Unit for individuals who would like to go outside and enjoy nature.
- Oxnard Family Circle cooks two hot dietary meals a day for participants on-site under the supervision of registered dietitians. We also provide transportation to and from the center, as well as showering assistance for those who have difficulties with personal hygiene.

What are the ultimate goals of Oxnard Family Circle?
- To address all of your loved one's needs accordingly and on a daily basis
- To keep your loved one living at home in their own community for as long as possible
- To provide caregivers support and the relief of knowing that their loved one is safe and well-cared for
- To become your loved one's home away from home
